Chemical Changes
Yesterday in our experiment we observed many reactions! Some
reactions did chemical changes:
- Change in colour
- Bubbles produced
- Solid dissolved
- Solid produced
Chemical Changes: Detail
Chemical changes occur when bonds are broken and atoms are
re-arranged. Something new is made.

Chemical Properties
A chemical property is how matter reacts with other matter.
Physical Changes
Physical change is when the atoms/molecules are not changed
inside matter. Nothing new is produced.
- Change in texture
- Change in shape
- Change in state (liquid, gas, solid)
Physical Changes: Detail
Source
- A - Physical Change (no new molecules/compounds
produced)
- B - Chemical Change (new molecules/compounds
produced)
Physical Properties
A physical property is something measurable or observable about the
matter.
- Density
- Colour
- Melting point
- Boiling point
- Conducts electricity
Ngohe / Task
- Open Google Classroom
- Find the Chemical and Physical Properties
document
- Decide whether each description is a chemical
or physical property
